At this time of crisis and grief in Israel and the Occupied Territories of Palestine, we call on representatives and members of communities, religious groups, and peace & justice groups to join us for a Community Speakout.
We will gather this Sunday, March 17th, at 1:00pm, on the south-west side of Michigan Avenue at Pearson (800 north). This event will take place after the weekly Not In My Name silent vigil.
We cannot, and will not, remain silent as the carnage continues to take the lives of innocent Palestinians and Israelis. We condemn the brutal attacks by the Israeli military on Palestinian villages and refugee camps, murdering hundreds, injuring thousands, and terrorizing millions. We also condemn murderous attacks on innocent Israelis.
As Jews, Muslims, Christians, and others, we will come together. With the love for a multi-ethnic community, we will stand together. With anger and grief for the horror we are witnessing, we will speak out.
Representatives of community, religious, and peace and justice groups will have an opportunity to make brief (2 minute) statements. Priority will be given to those groups that are community and religious-based, and peace and justice groups that have the Israel/Palestine issue as a primary focus.
The sponsors of this Community Speakout are:
