In Response to an Op-Ed Piece by Uri Dromi
by Cindy Levitt

Sent to the Chicago Tribune on February 2, 2021 in response to an op-ed piece by Uri Dromi.

Uri Dromi's op-ed piece titled "Predicting the Next Middle East Episode in Terrorism" ( Feb. 2, 2001) illustrates his amazing ability to create an untruthful spin on the history of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.  Just before reading his piece I was immersed in Benny Morris's book, (he's an Israeli historian) "Righteous Victims."  In it he speaks of Israel's military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza strip in 1967, and says, "Like all occupations, Israel's was founded on brute force, repression and fear, collaboration and treachery, beatings and torture chambers, and daily intimidation, humiliation, and manipulation."  Dromi conveniently forgets that state sponsored terrorism is part of the story.  As for Dromi's comment that Ariel Sharon "will soon show the Palestinians his iron fist" he must know that Sharon's murderous ways have already proven he's a terrorist himself.
