Phyllis Bennis is a fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. and the Transnational Institue in Amsterdam. She directs the New Internationalism Project, which focuses on U.S. policy in the Middle East, U.S.-U.N. relations, and U.S. unilateralism and interventions. She is the author of Calling the Shots: How Washington Dominates Today's U.N., (2000) and Before and After: U.S. Foreign Policy and the September 11 Crisis (2002) and editor of Beyond the Storm: A Gulf Crisis Reader. (1991. A widely respoected analyst and commentator, Bennis has spoken and written about he United Naitons and the Middle Est for over twenty years. Bennis is also author of Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: A Primer.
