12-HOUR STOP THE WALL DEMO

Come for an hour or two, or the entire day. Please support this dramatic effort to focus attention on the wall and its devastating effects on Palestinians in the West Bank.

The International Stop the Wall Campaign is traveling across the country with their "Stop the Wall Tour" to promote awareness of this important issue. The tour will be coming through Chicago on Friday, August 13.

A coalition of groups including NIMN, the Palestine Solidarity Group, AFSC, Peace Pledge, the International Solidarity Movement, the Stop CAT Coalition, Students for Justice in Palestine and others are working together to make the Chicago visit successful.

Their will be a 12-hour vigil beginning at 9 am on Friday morning. Some people will be fasting to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Palestine and with the recent ICJ ruling condeming Israel's barrier to peace as illegal and a violation of human rights.

Plans are to erect a wall in Federal Plaza resembling the one that Israel continues to build illegally on Palestinian lands. This replica wall will be 25 ft high, 10 fit wide and 10 fit long. We will be leafletting people about the wall, its impacts, the ICJ ruling and related information.

A noon press conference is planned, to which Congressmen Danny Davis, Jesse Jackson Jr, Ray Lahood and Bobby Rush will be invited. They were the only members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation to vote against the U.S. resolution condmening the ICJ ruling against the wal.

Other events for the Stop the Wall tour are in the planning stages. Please check back for updates, or contact stopthewall@yahoo.com
